As with any statistic, there will be more results if
there are more too choose from in a sample space. The
dog with the most dog bites is the Labrador. Why?
Not because they bite more than other dogs, but
because they are the most popular and there are more
of them than any other breed.
Same goes with RV's. If you do a search for accidents
involving RV's, you will most likely find more deaths
than in glasair's or Lancair's combined, since there
are 3 times the number of RV's flying than there are
Glasair's and Lancair's.
Statistically speaking, I don't think Van's airplanes
are any more dangerous than any other homebuilt.
Van's airplanes do not have a history of structural
failures, other than the -8 which appears to be self
induced. Any of the deaths that you may find will
largely be attributed to pilot error or weather.
