It looks like I may have found the first error in the Plans. Page 10-
11 step #2. They want you to drill from the skins into the Longerons
with a 1/8" drill. DON'T DO IT UNTIL YOU HERE BACK FROM ME. The drill
size should be 3/32 I think. The holes are going to be final drilled
to #40 in a later step. If you drill a 1/8" hole you will have an
oversized hole. I will call Vans on Monday or if anyone from Van's is
on here can let us know sooner. Randy 40006. VS, HS, Rudder,
Elevators Done. Tail cone 1/2 assemble first time. This is a big part!

Greetings:
Thanks Randy, I think you are right.
Another issue, I would not call this one an error, is the note following
step 2 page 6-4 which says to dimple the four bottom holes in the VS forward
spar VS-1002 and counter sink the corresponding holes in the VS-1015 doubler
attachment. Looking ahead to Step 3 page 11-5, and checking the parts I
find that only the bottom TWO holes will be under the VS-1016 vertical stab
front spar attach bracket and require dimpling.
I'm sure no harm would come from dimpling four holes but I don't believe it
will be necessary.
Also, it appears that the last vertical row of rivets in the tail cone side
skins will match with the VS rear spar assemble.
I went ahead and followed the instructions match drilling these holes in the
VS rear spar parts but, I am wondering now if it would not have been better
to do this in assemble with the side skins. It would seem that access to
the VS rear spar would still be available to do the required counter sinks
in the VS rear spar flanges. Again, as long as the parts match up as well
as they have so far this should not be a problem.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW, DISREGARD THE FOLLOWING:
I see now that the last two rows of side skin rivets attach the skin to the
aft bulkhead not the VS stab spar.

Well looking at the riveting guide for the associated skin on page 10-25
would mean you are right because 3/32 rivets are called out.

Just to let everyone know, I have not found any other errors in the plans. I have followed the plans to the letter during the assembly stage of each section. It has worked very well so far and kept me out of trouble. Randy 40006 Tail Cone assembled and final drilled.
