Group-Here are a few tips when you tap the tie down support on the
tailcone.

Don't cut the stock until after you have tapped it. There is extra
length of the stock provided and you don't want to cut it until you
are sure that you have good clean threads to the depth indicated.

Usually the first few threads when you tap don't cut clean because of
the movement of the tap until it gets seated well.

I used Boe-lube on the tap and it helps to back it out on a regular
basis once you get it started to help keep the teeth on the tap clean.

Look inside the hole once you tap it to see where the threads get
real clean, then tap a little deeper to accomodate the depth of the
bad threads and cut off the bad threads. Clean the threads where you
made the cut and then cut it to final length. I'm sure there are
other ways to do this but mine turned out real sweet with this method.

I bought a magnifying headset from Harbor Freight. Best $5 I've
spent so far. It really helps to check your detailed work with these
especially when you get old and can't see as well. Now if I can just
remember where I put them!

Great tip! A big thank you from Iowa. Will probably use this one
this weekend! Anyone else got some good tips like this one for those
of us that are playing catch-up?

p.s. Hey Besing -- are you in a race to have the first one in the
air? Maybe you can come help me while you are waiting for your
wings!! I get tired just thinking of the schedule you must be
keeping!
