Home -> RV-10 topic: HS inboard rib/spar rivet question

How are folks squeezing those big rivets on the slanted inboard ribs
that attach to the front spar? There's not a whole lot of room to
get a squeezer past the hinge attachments, so I was thinking about
using a gun/bucking bar.

Thanks,
Jay

Interesting that you should ask - I just did that part a few days
ago... I tried using my pneumatic but in six tries I only wound up
with two acceptable rivets. It was worth a try but in hindsight I
should have just bucked them to begin with.

The two inboard ribs get attached to the web before it goes in....but
then yes, you have to buck those babies! Be careful. I buggered
mine up and had to re-order and re-install! Not expensive...but oh
what a pain!!

Take extra time on this part. The number 5 rivets want to mash over
since the bucking bar is at such a tough angle!
