Home -> RV-10 topic: CP 351 Rivet squeezer Questions/Help

Author: "sgp93gsx" <Lsssp@...> Time: Tue Jan 13, 2004 1:00 am PST Link

I have an opportunity to purchase a used squeezer. Here is part of
the ad:

Chicago Pneumatic CP351 Compression Riveter with several different
head configurations. Has a New .187 "C" Yoke and Neck assembly
installed. This is being sold as is but seems to be fine.

Includes about 3k in accessories / attachments as shown.

It has 5 heads total. I am going to order my emp. kit soon. Just
trying to gather a few things in the meantime.

My question is: Is this squeezer compatable/interchangeable with the
units being ordered new?

I have not seen any pictures of the units or yokes that are being
purchased. Only numbers. I just need to know what to buy or whether I
am purchasing the correct items.

If anyone needs pictures of units/yokes to help please let me know.

Thanks in Advance
Scott

Scott,

That a Chicago Pneumatics C-frame squeezer (thats where the CP comes from) I have a CP 214 which is the standard C-frame squeezer and I use three yokes, a 2.5 longeron, a 3" standard and a 4" no hole. Now that puppy puts out 6000 pounds of rivet loving compression. The 214 is 3000. If you go to www.chicagopneumatic.com you can look at their whole product line. Do a little searcing to make sure your not paying too much. If your getting this setup for around $500 or less go for it but be aware it may have worn rolloers, piston or some other defect that may require a rebuild. I picked mine up new but there are deals to be found. I can tell you I'm very happy with the items from www.rivettools.com where I went.

Just my pennies worth and by the way....you will love this tool, I helped Bob Kaufmann dimple his VS last weekend and it between the two of us we had it done in about an hour and a half. Between his bum leg and my broke hand (that's why I bought the squeezer) that wasn't too bad :)

Scott,

I don't have much to contribute here, other than to say that Avery's is
modeled on the 214, which influenced my decision on which used unit to
buy, as I want to be able to buy additional yokes from them (Why them?
Because I know next to nothing about buying parts, etc. for the thing).
I won an ebay auction this weekend for a Chicago C214 for $227 if that
helps on the pricing at all.
