I'm just starting to back rivet my rudder skins. I am considering
building the elevators next so I can pro seal all of the trailing
edges at the same time. Is this even feasable/doable or worth even
considering? Steve 40212

Some people haven't even been pro-sealing, but I have been.
I think if you're planning to do it, I'd just build the parts
as they come. It's just going to be a lot of small parts to
keep track of if you try to do it all at once. I found the
prosealing job not to be too big of a deal when I did it.
Advice: don't use too much. Maybe a little more than a golfball
size blob would be plenty. A VERY thin coat, or you'll add thickness
to the trailing edge.

Steve,
Not sure I'd bother. From those that went the Proseal route it wasn't as
big an issue as rumours tend to make it. A lot of folks didn't even use it,
and cleco'd the trailing edge to a piece of angle iron which was used as a
back riveting plate.

I would buy not buy the proseal in the tube if I were to do my tailcone
again. Buy the cans. I bought two of the tubes (one for the rudder and
one for the elevators) That way you don't have to do everything at once.
You can mix up as much as you want.

Steve,
I agree with all responses so far. As a first time builder I found
the individuall pieces to keep track off overwhelming - Of course
after match-drilling you gain intimate familiarity with them. My
sessions were limited to about 2 hours so working each part
separately worked better for me. I could only afford to work one at a
time. I did not use proseal on the rudder/elevators but I did on the
ailerons/flaps just because I had proseal left over. I also agree
that mixing up 4-5 golfball size for each session was way too much.
6-7 marble size proseal balls was much better.

G'day,
I've done exactly the same thing. Doesn't cause any troubles at all.
There is nothing to stop you building the elevators without the HS.
