Hey, just a belated update from Osh on the issue of WAAS GPS's and whether
you need VOR capability to legally fly IFR or not. According to the FAA
WAAS guy, we don't. He quoted the rule to me, then admonished that not
needing VOR capability was a loophole, and that they didn't intend for
people to fly straight GPS WAAS w/o having VOR capabilities in the plane.
Me, I want the VOR nav capability for backup, so I'll have it, but I guess
that it's up to the individual.
