Quick one for you guys who've completed your wings...
I haven't yet got my autopilot servos....no reason, but plan to
order them right away this week.
I'm now almost done with the flaps, and am starting with the aileron
control section of the plans, while my flap trailing edge proseal
sets up firm.
Is there anything that I'd need to modify, or cut differently, since
I'm putting a TruTrak (sorcerer, most likely) into the plane? I know
the AP servo would go in the Right wing, but do I end up shortening
any pushrod controls or anything?
I'll have my flap completion pics posted in a day or two.
Totaling 482.4 Man-hours so far. No fiberglass work done to date,
and 95% complete of the wing kit. QB Fuse coming soon!

Tim,
For the TruTrak autopilots the only real difference is that one of
the mounting brackets (W-823PP)for the bellcrank is replaced with one
that is provide by TruTrak - exact replacement and bolts right in.
The servo connects to the bellcrank (WD-421-R) with an additional
hole that you drill.
You will need some additional hardware that doesn't come with the
servo - a couple of AN3 bolts, area washers and locking nuts for the
linkage and some AN3 sized bolts or fillister head screws to attach
the servo to the bracket. These should probably be drilled head type
so that they can be safety wired since there's no other way of
locking them.
Hint: Hook up to the servo's DB-9 connector BEFORE bolting the servo
in. It is extremely difficult to get to one of the connector hold
down screws if you don't. At least that's what I've heard...

Hey Bob, thanks for the quick reply on that!
Any idea the exact sizes of bolts and part numbers on any of the
things I'll need? I'm planning an order to Van's and may as well
add that stuff on right away if you know what I'll need.
Anyone have a close-up photo of their AP servo installed? Would
be cool to see one. If not, when I get mine done I'll post
one for the list.

Tim,
I just posted a couple of photos in the "Bob C" album in the Photots
section. Here's a list of hardware to mount the servo and arm:
- 4 AN3-6H drilled head bolts, could also be fillister head screws.
- 1 AN3-7A bolt (servo arm to rod bearing)
- 1 AN3-12A bolt (rod bearing to bellcrank)
- 2 AN970-3 area washers
- 2 AN365-1032 locking nuts
- 4 AN960-10 washers
Drilled head bolts/screws are for mounting servo to bracket. Length
isn't critical, the 'H' suffix is for drilled head. 3 are required
for mounting, I used the 4th in the threaded but unused servo
mounting hole to safety wire the bolt that mounts in the back (as
viewed from the access panel).
Installation instructions and drawings are identical to the RV-7
installation. Here's the link to the drawings:
http://www.trutrakflightsystems.com/documents/RV-7RollInstall.pdf
Note that the drawing is a left wing install so your install will be
a mirror image.

Very awesome, thanks Bob! I added that stuff to my list so
I should be able to get it coming. Made some good progress today.
