Author: "Scott Schmidt" <trpartners@...> Time: Mon Dec 13, 2004 8:06 pm PST Link

Has anyone talked to Van's about the availablity of the Hartzell
propeller? Will it be available soon?

I have not been able to decide which propeller to use, MT or
Hartzell but I've dedided to use the Hartzell. But I would like to
have it by April 1st. I will e-mail Van's but thought I'd check
here first.

The hartzell prop that vans has been flying on N410RV is available, I have
already received mine.

I'm not sure what the status of the MT is.

Hi All,

MT Propeller designed a 3 blade propeller specifically for the RV-10 and the
Lycoming 540 engine.

Four RV-10 builders have already received their MT propeller. Vic Syracuse
plans to fly his RV-10 to Sun-N-Fun in 2005 with his MT Propeller.

Hartzell 2 blade 80" dia. propeller including spinner weighs 66 pounds.
(The 56 pounds reported by one person was for a 72" dia. Hartzell for a Lycoming
360 engine. Same bolt pattern.)

MT 3 blade propeller and spinner weighs 48 pounds.

Please contact me at _lessdragcom@aol.com_ (mailto:lessdragcom@aol.com) if
you are interested in participating in the RV-10 MT Propeller group.

We're hoping to hear the availability of the new Scimitar blade Hartzell
that was being made for the RV-10. For some, it's going to be a
matter of what's available. Me, I really want to see a Hartzell
Scimitar and an MT 3-blade flight tested so we can get the numbers...
But, I'm going to need to buy this spring, so I may have to settle for
whichever I can get first. The MT's might be my best bet at this time.

My guess would be that 18lbs of weight savings might be worth having if your going the 540 route vs the Continental. Could save you from having to tote around a bag of lead shot when only flying one passenger ;)

I have uploaded a photo of my MT 3 Blade Prop (designed for the IO-
540 and RV-10) in the photos section under Russ Daves. Sorry it
isn't a better picture but I did not completely unwrap blades and
take it out of the shipping box.
