As I complete my countersinking of the spars I am reading ahead on the buildup of the wing skeleton. I am wondering why I need to rivet the ribs to the spar before I am done match drilling the rear spar to the ribs and skins to the ribs etc. Don't we want to just clecoe it all up and drill everything first so we can deburr, and dimple and prime the ribs with them off the wings just like on the tail surfaces. Or did I misread? If following the plans; have those of you (like me) that are alodining/priming going back to repaint the match drilled holes in the skin/ribs or are you over all those precautions by now?
Thanks

Chris,
Since I'm right there it's still fresh in my mind. I thought the same thing about holdiing off on riveting the front tab but decided to follow the plans. I just eyeballed the hole, held it in place and match drilled it, it came out fine and everything lined up perfectly when I clecoed and drilled the top skins. That small tab may be a bear to align and hold with the skin attached, matter of fact I would think you would need someone to hold it while you drilled it since mine would not just line up on their own.I primed the ribs prior to attaching to the spar but I will need to touch up the flanges before attaching the top skins for riveting. I was planning on just using a brush and giving it the once over then moving on. Once again your sequence may vary depending on your methods of priming. I am only priming the mating surfaces of the skins. I only Alodine/prime the aluminum bar and angle stock, alumaprep only and prime the alcad stuff with the exception of the wing skins which after
reading so much about it am just going to scuff the flange contact areas and prime those spots. NO PRIMER WARS PLEASE!!!

Sounds fine - I'm just trying to get a feeling about how folks were
proceeding - didn't want to get into the PRIMER thing either!
