Hello all. It looks like I may be joining all you aspiring builders
pretty quickly. After the first of the new year I have the
opportunity to purchase a started emp/tailcone kit + tools from a
fellow builder here in Kansas. Just a couple quick questions.
First, what do I need to look for in the completed sections to see
that they are up to "par" as far as quality goes. Keep in mind I
have absolutely no experience with aircraft construction. Could a
local EAA tech counselor check the items out for me to see if they
are built with good quality workmanship??? If so, does anybody know
someone in the Wichita, KS area with such skills???

Next, when Vans sells a kit, the original purchaser is issued a
builder number. How do I go about getting that number switched over
into my name. Is there some transfer of ownership paperwork
included with the kits???

Finally, if anybody has any more info that I might need to know
PLEASE email me or post here on the group site. I have been a
lurker here on the -10 site, the -7 site and the Eggenfellner subaru
site for the past couple years now and it looks like things might
actually work out where I can become a builder finally. I cannot
wait to get started and take an active part in these discussions
instead of just being an innocent bystander. I'll be talking to you
folks later.

Thanks,
Bill Britton

You might contact Dave Aldag, dbaraa@worldnet.att.net]. He is the
"president" (we don't have a formal organization) of the Air Capitol Rvators
in Wichita. Due to the seasonal activities we are not meeting in December,
but usually meet at a member's shop or hangar on the 3rd Saturday of each
month. Dave can put you on the mailing list for meeting announcements, etc.
He can also put you in contact with one or more of the experienced builders,
including one or more Tech Councilors.
