We also had one of ours break and a close inspection showed very
little welding penetration of the flat plate material. Luckily my
building partner is a qualified welder and he beefed up both pieces
to be bullit proof. Also , the covers, with nut plates attached by
rivets, can be threaded onto the aft cable housings by shifting the
trim motor assembly all the way to one side and gaining a couple
extra inches of play on that cable, then move the assembly over
towards the other side for a little extra room on that cable.
