Has anyone used or is using this compressor? Horbor Freight, Central
Pneumatic 4.5 hp, 21 gal vert tank. It is an oil lubed unit running on
110v and puts out 125 psi max and 8.8 cfm @ 40 psi. For $150 is it a
decent value?
Thanks

I started with that one. It is a decent value, but you will find that
it runs a LOT. It is also (in my opinion) loud for an oil lubed unit.
I used it for about half of the tailcone before I sold it and bought
a 60 gallon 240V belt driven unit from Home Depot for about $350. If
I had to do it over, I would have just started with the big one. It
hardly ever runs compared to the smaller model, and it seems a bit
quieter as well. Your mileage may vary, depending on how much you use
your compressor. As almost all of my tools are air driven, I use it a
lot.

I have used this compressor. I took it back and went to Costco and bought a
Coleman for 199$. It will run an air tool, paint gun ect., but the HF oil
compressor ran out of steam early, blew the oil cap and made a mess of the hanger
door. The coleman is oilless.

Yes, I used one for a couple of months until it quit. I could barely
get 100 psi out of it, which isn't really enough for my pnuematic
squeezer. I had built a box of 1.5" foam insulation board around it
to contain some of the noise. It helped only a little.
I ended up using a friends old farm compressor. It's a monster that
works great.
Fortunately, HF took it back for a full credit. Not recommended.
