Merry Christmass!! Here's a few bothersome observations before I go
down for a nap. Anyone have the following problems with the
rudder/brake pedals and brake hoses?
Both of my left brake pedals are about 25deg depressed in their
resting position. Both right pedals are more upright and lined up
with the rudder pedal frames. Examining left rudder pedals further
revealed the upper eyelets securing the top of the master cylinders
are 1/4inch higher when compared to those on the right pedals. Thus
causing the left pedals to be in a slightly depressed position.
Pg 38-6, Step 2, calls for PT-062 nylon brake hose. My inventory
only shows PT-035 and that is in fact what I have as it is also
printed on the hose itself. However, the hose and brass fitting
parts do not play together well. The inner most brass insert is
loose on the inside of the nylon hose. I appear to have the hose of
thinner wall than required. I think the brass fittings are correct.
Pg 38-6, Fig 1, shows the dimensions to cut the nylon brake hose.
Two long ones of 43in each to connect the pilot and copilot sides.
Plus one of 23in and one of 18in to connect to the resevoir
fitting. That's 127in total if my math is correct. I was shipped
10ft total. That's 120in. So I'm short 7in of nylon hose.

I found the answer to the first problem after looking at Randy's
pictures. The torque tube to the left pedals should be aft of the
other one. Then the brake pedals would align themselves enventhough
they are not neccessarily aligned to the rudder pedal frames.

I have the same problem. I talked to Van's about it and they say I must
have drilled holes wrong. I drilled no holes. I have asked them to
review the dwg. And offer solution. Where are you located? I am in West
Palm Beach, located on the Aero Club airport.

Jim, below is Van's response to my email. Looks like they'll have
to do the same for you. I'm in Southern MD.
