Home -> RV-10 topic: Extra hole on bottom flange of rear tank baffle.

Author: "rdoerr01" <rdoerr@...> Time: Sun Dec 26, 2004 12:09 pm PST Link

The tank skins have an extra hole in the center of the rear baffle
flange where it attaches to the bottom tank skin. I don't see any
rivet callout for this hole. I believe it is there solely to
identify the top/bottom flange of the rear baffle since it is only
in the bottom flange. The issue is there is no callout for this
hole. Has anyone else asked this quiestion to Van's? I'm assuming
you just countersink this hole as well and squeeze another rivet for
it, but I wanted to check what others have done.

Thanks

Yeah, I asked Van's, they said the hole is just so you can tell the
top from the bottom, and that you can go ahead and fill it with
another rivet.

That's all I did was add another AN426AD3 rivet there.
After mounting them to the wing, I can't think of anything
else it was meant for. It actually was handy having it there to
ensure I had the baffle on the right way.
