I just got my wing kit. I have a note that I should not cut the
longerons that are 15'2" in the spar box.
However the spar box is only 14' long. I seem to remember a post on
this subject before, could someone remind me what the real scoop is?

The letter about the longerons does NOT apply to the RV-10 kit.
Just ignore it! I got two letters from vans and they were NOT happy
that I called about it missing from the kit.
Toss the letter in the garbage can and begin the inventory.
Seems they have a standard group of documentation that gets packed
with all the kits. This one letter does not belong in the -10 kit.

Only applys to the other RV's...not the -10. I had the same head scratching too, called Van's and saved you a nickel on the phone call. ;)

Thanks. I just finished the inventory and found no long angles nor
where there any on the pick slip. All's well.

I had the same "your calling us about this???" answer when I had the same question. Nothing like being made to feel dumb for $7300.00. FWIW...this was the only time I had called Van's with a question since I started. Silly me....reading the documentation...what was I thinking.

I have since started the countersinking on the spar and am having
troubles.
I cannot get the .032 skin to lay flat on the spar with the
countersink no larger than the 3/8" that the plans call out. Did
you have similar problems?

Gary,
No problems on my end, I kept adjusting until it laid flat, a few thousands at a time...not sure what the problem may be, it is only a tad deeper than a countersink for a rivet.

You might also try checking your dimple test piece. I found that I got
better dimples by getting a new die - I had a cheap die. Also I had better
screw dimples by actually using a screw and a countersunk hole in a piece of
bar stock.
