I spoke with Van's today about QB status and the effect ,if any, of
the turmoil in the region on kit shipments. QB fuselage #18 has been
shipped from the Phillipines. The effect of the turmoil may be to
make more eastbound capacity available (to OR). Most of the
additional humanitarian freight will be westbound to the region.

Did Vans give any indication on when the QB fuse kits would be ready
for shipment to their kit builders.

My QB fuse is on a truck headed to Lockhart, Texas. ABF is telling
me crate will be at my hangar on January 4. Now all I have to do is
figure out how I'm going to get a 700 pound crate off the truck.

No problem Mark! Gravity will do most all the work. Oh, you want to
gently set it on the ground???
Here's what I've seen done with crates too big or heavy to off-load by
two people (you and the driver):
Have a few sawhorses available ..... trailer bed height +/- ..... and
place behind the truck not quite 1/2 the length of box. Slide the box
out so that it will rest on the sawhorse .... about in balance
position. Place another sawhorse under the 'high' end (either next to
the truck or on the other side of first sawhorse. While you lift the
end on the truck a little, have the driver pull the truck out from under
that end and rest it on the sawhorse. You might want to have some extra
sawhorses placed so that the box can't over-center and flip up. Once
the truck is gone, dismantle the box on the sawhorses and move your
stuff inside.
That's one way .... and others may have some other hints.
