Home -> RV-4 topic: Pneumatic squeezer

Anybody have any advice on pneumatic squeezers? I'm going to take
Jeff's advice and get one. Where do I start? What do I look for?
What's critical or useful when building an RV4?

Side note... I just reserved a vanity plate for my car: "RV4" How
cool is that?

rebuilt one, or see if some builder is done, and would like to
recoup some of the tool cost to put into avgas.

Try calling Bill Jones at Production Tool and Technology at 1-866-546-4663.
They are in Macon Georgia. Tell them about what you are looking for and
they will make you a good price. Look in the US Industrial and figure out
about what size you want. Call me with questions. -- Les

http://clearairtools.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CA&Category_Code=PRS is one place...

Clearair tools has rebuilt (and new) pn. squeezers. Avery and Cleaveland only have new. You don't need 4 yokes and a lot of fixed length sets/shims. Get an adjustable set and a couple of yokes, start with a 2.5 inch if you want to start with one. (you will find there will be a lot of rivets you could get to with a longer one, but that can wait) You WILL need a C-frame tool, though. A 1" strip sander is great too. Most come with a 6" disc sander on the side, I never used mine, but some guys used that more than the strip.

"What's critical or useful when building a -4?"

Heh, heh, heh,...PATIENCE!

of course, I took 15 years to finish mine...well worth waiting for! I did pick up some wrinkles along the way, but the biggest have been added the last year of flying it, laugh lines, every time I go up! All those admonishments to "keep pounding those rivets!" ...they know whereof they speak!
