You might call van's to see if the manfacturer replaced the malformed
canopies.
If you shorten the bow and use the short canopy,the rear seat head
clearance will be so low that you will have to limit to very short
passengers. The visibility from the rear seat would be limited.
I helped a friend do this in the 80's and it looked uncomgortable.
