Hey Guys, While at SNF I took a look at the Aero Carb made by the
Sonex folks for the 0-320.It looked very well machined, simple and
light/small plus it's fully inverted and costs only $357. Anybody out
there running an Aero Carb?
BTW, I had 14 RV's in my yard staying with me at my strip near
Lakeland...all RV's welcome next year!

Last time I asked the Aerocarb was set up for gravity feed only - no
benefit over a Marvel there ? J.K. RV-4 3254. Had a rush of blood to
the head - liked the sensation - went Bendix F.I. / Christen oil !!

John;
I asked Jeremy Monnet about it and the AC is designed for inverted
flight with no floatbowl, a pure throttle body.It looked great, a
very high quality machined product. The only thing you have to add
is a fuel pressure regulator from your local auto parts store. It
looked great and had some decent reviews. I too like the bendix, but
cost is a factor. I am still looking for an RVer who is flying one.
Check out their site at:

I have the new 'precision silverhawkEX' injection unit as supplied with a
superior XP IO-360.
I understand that it is about the same price as a standard carb.
Could be worth a look.

I'm intergued by the aerocarb as well. Unfortunately as another
posted, it can't handle anything but gravity feed.
Here's a real-world explanation that's better than anything I can
type.
http://imagedv.com/aircamper/log/image-pages/11-22-03.htm
In theory you could add a pressure regulator near the carb that would
drop the pressure down to a consistent 2psi. But your playing with
fire. They're really meant for basic aircraft running VW, O-200, or
Corvair.

Hi Bruce,
I kinda got the impression that fuel-pump equipped Lycomings
weren't the AC's primary market when I asked pointed questions about
performance at their SNF booth. I am re-thinking and looking at the
XP-360 silverhawk exp injection, a Cont FI and even the expensive
Ellison TBI. Many thanks to all "posters"....
One thing I learned from a local airboat engine builder is the
Continental fuel injection unit is far superior in simplicity than
the Lyc with only 2 O-rings and one butterfly valve. His primary mod
is to build a Cont FI and install it on 0-540 Lycoming powered
airboats.
BTW, I learned that Lycomings are capable of ALOT of punishment
after looking at some airboat engines. One quote from an airboat
driver I met was, "yep sometimes them exhaust pipes glow cherry red
when I'm really gettin' after it, 650 CHT ain't nothin...."
Muchas Gracias Bruce!
