Mike, Have you checked very carefully that the bottom of the VS spar is sitting really tight to the bulkhead ? With the over 90 degree flange bend the edges of the web tend to be curled up a bit. A bit of judicious trimming and file work on the corners of the spar should let it sit in snugly. Might gain you 1/8" or so. I had to do this and also use a 1/8" shim at the front spar - all rudder hinge holes were in line, VS spar flat on bulkhead - still had to file about 1/8" off VS nose rib/flange where it sits over the rear fuselage - no big deal - all covered by the intersection fairing. I'm sure you thought of this, but just in case. Once the rear spar of
the vertical stabilizer is attached, if you try to pull down on the
front of the vertical stabilizer to close the gap at the front attach
point, your rudder hinge pins will no longer be aligned.
