Hi,
I've just got to the stage of completing some of the Empennage
components and am looking for any tips/advice on preparing them for
long term storage. At the rate I'm going this could be quite a
number of years!
They are primed inside and the outside skins have the plastic
removed only where the rivet lines are.
Thanks,
Andy

Hi,
I think the latest advice is to remove the plastic
before storing the parts. Something about possible
moisture trapped between the plastic and the aluminium.

I finished my empennage in 1990 and didn't fly until 97'. I used
rattle can Zinc Chromate primer inside and out. ZC was the best
stuff back then and I still like it. Why, it works! Any doubts try
stripping it sometime.
Anyway, mine was stored in the high humidity of FL and looked new
when I bolted it on...6 years later. Good Luck, I would peel the
plastic and prime.
