Hi Guys
Under the fiberglass fairing (forward edge of canopy) there are soft
pop rivets. I drilled the canopy hole to 3/16" at those locations and
put a large 100 deg chamfer. If I use the pop rivets with out any
support under them I am afraid the canopy will crack or the rivet will
pull through the canopy. How did you solve this issue?

I'm about where you are and figured I'd make or buy some sort of washer to back it up. You could easily dimple some aluminum sheet and cut into little washers.

Steve
I was considering the same solution of producing small dimpled washer from sheet stock. I am convinced that a rivet would pull through the Plexiglas without support. If you have a chance send some pix's of your 4 to djmmfg@charter.net

I riveted my plexi on to the canopy frame on my RV-4 with no problems
encountered. No special measures were taken. After the hole was
drilled and deburred in the plexi I made sure that the canopy frame was
very smooth with no burrs and just riveted it right on. Not a crack or
pull through was noted. 200 hours later still no cracks.
