Has any used or know anything about the Areo Classic tires advertised
on the vansforce site. Or recommend other tires tyhat have worked
well.
I have just purchased an RV6 and it could use a set of tires.
Thanks Bob Martin

Bob,
FWIW, my main tires that came with the kit were pretty well worn on the
outside by the first annual condition inspection. I was going to just turn
them over, but they just felt paper thin in the worn places even with no
cord showing.
A good friend convinced me to put on the Goodyear Flight Custom II tires. I
also bit the bullet and put in the Michelin tubes no leak tubes. I have
been very pleased to know that I have a good set of tires under me. They
were a close fit however. I did have to open up the exit hole around the
bottom of the wheelpants, and also use shorter #8 screws on the top of the
pant. But it did fit. I do have the Sam James wheelpants and they are a
close fit anyway.
Good luck with whatever you decide. You are shopping at THE place to get
your tires.
Good luck.

Wes, Thanks for the reply and your information. you are the second
one to say thay used the flight custom II tires with the Michelin
tubes.
I ask Wilkerson Tires, a local to Va company about the tubes, They
infered the special tubes really didn't work much better than the
standard tubes, his brother had a set and still had to add air every
2 weeks or so. (note:they didn't sell the michelin tubes either!)
Do you feel the flight custom II's are a stiffer/harder ride?
Could there be an advantage to cheaper/softer tires?
Have you noticed a difference with the michelin tubes??
Thanks again, Bob Martin

Bob,
I really do like the Goodyear tires. They are a lot stiffer and the rubber
is a lot harder. However, I really haven't noticed that much difference.
I have been flying off our runway since November. The runway is in severe
need of repair and is spalled and pitted pretty bad. The rocks and stuff
were just eating up the softer tires and rubber. I have not really noticed
much wear on these at all.
Now for the tubes. As I said, I put the tubes and tires on in November.
Prior to changing the tubes, I was having to air up the tires at least once
a month and sometimes more. However, since the new tubes and tires have been
put on, (11/01),I think I have added air to the mains only one time. I
really don't understand that, but it is wonderful. (I have had to air up the
nose gear tire several times, but it doesn't have the air stop tube. For me
I think they are well worth it. I know they are pricey but I would do it
again.
Good luck, and let me know if I can be of further assistance.
