Hi, everyone,
I wanted to issue a personal invitation to all of you to come out for our
Fly In at Wetumpka (08A) AL Airport on Saturday, September 21. We will be
hosting a FAA Safety Briefing (I think at 11am), and Dennis and I will be
running a Young Eagles booth and putting kids in planes from 10-2. In fact,
if you want to provide a YE flight or two, just email me and let me know--we
can always use additional pilots, since so many of our chapter members will
be occupied on the ground parking planes and answering questions. There will
be a lunch available for purchase (probably BBQ) around noonish, and we'll
have donuts and coffee for those guys who arrive nice and early. First time
ever, this year two of our members are raffling rides in their planes...a
Yak and a Stearman, and proceeds from that raffle will go to the EAA
Chapter. We are also going to have a Parade Flight in the early morning
hours, circling the area (Wetumpka, Millbrook, Montgomery, Prattville), to
alert the local community to the flying activity at the airport, so we are
hoping to have quite a few "civilians" drop by and see our beautiful planes.
There is no admission charge and no fly-in fee. We just hope for pretty
weather and lots of pretty planes. (c:
On a side note, it looks like Dennis will have N464DM, our
brand-spanking-new RV-6A, finished by then, and might EVEN get to fly. (c:
His FAA check is next Friday night, and he needs to get a few hours flying
before he launches it...but unfortunately, he's afraid he's going to be
finished building and HAVE to fly it very soon. GRIN.
Y'all come see us! If you don't make it down for the fly-in, but do stop by
Wetumpka for our $1.69 fuel sometime, we are now in the big hangar just
beside the fuel pumps, so come in and say hello. It's my job to keep the
refrigerator stocked with cold drinks for all the thirsty RV flyers who drop
by.
