Hi Max, had the same problem then discovered that it comes of with a wet rag, it's water soluble.

I have cleaned and scrubbed the parts with scotch brite in preperation for priming.  I have no problem getting the sharpie pen markings off but the blue writing that is stamped on the aluminum designating the type is tough stuff.  I am somewhat afraid of removing to much material.  Is it okay to leave some of the blue stamping showing?  I am using Mar-Hyde self etching pretreatment primer.  I have read that some folks are just cleaning the aluminum and not "roughing it up"...any comments?
