Home -> RV-7 and RV-7A topic: Flop tubes in fuel tank

Author: "rvator30" <r250@...> Time: Thu Dec 20, 2001 6:36 pm PST Link

Hello all, I placed an order for a flop tube today. I doubt I'll be
doing super extended inverted stuff but ya' never know and I dont
wanna take those tanks apart once I build them.
I only ordered one tube and I'm assuming that's enough but would like
to hear from those with experience with these.
I'm also curious about instructions for installation etc. From what
I can see I have to add a hinged door and maybe a brackett to prevent
the tube from laying at odd angles. Any resources (builder sites)I
could peruse for this? Thanks for any help,

There are a couple of web sites with information on flop tubes but the only one I can quote is my own. Not a whole lot of information here but it might help.

Hi Robert, I thought this was interesting because I hadn't thought
about installing a single flop tube. I presume your "Prior to
Aerobatics" checklist will have you select the correct tank for
inverted flight? Right?

Phil,

Thanks for the photos of the flop tube mods, I'll be doing mine soon, to a QB
so these are helpful. What are you doing for senders?

Question on floptube .... Do you need the antirotation bracket for the
floptube. The reason iam questioning this is , I can not find an attachment
position on the inboard rib tip reinforceing plate . Is this bracket
necessary for the flop tubes ,seeing where it is attached there should be
restricted movement . Thanks for any help , Sal.

Sal,
No anti-rotation bracket needed for the flop tube.

Take Care,
Max
