Well, I have begun the journey. My Avery tools and tail kit arrived
this week. I still have some work to do in the garage but it is
almost ready.

I will be building the tail/wing jig, since my current plan is to
build the RV7 with the standard wing kit and use the quick build
fuselage. With that in mind I am looking for a length dimension for
the jig. The preplans specify up to 109" for the 6/6A but I am not
finding anyspecifics for the 7/7A. Can someone give me the length
of the wing mainspar? this should help me determine a workable jig
size.

Thank to everyone for the great information shared here! I'm
looking forward to a more active roll in the future. Merry Chrismas!

Congratulations on getting started....above all, have fun!
I made the mistake of building to that to small dimension. The correct one I believe is located in the construction manual and is 114". But check again, it is there somewhere.

Hi tom,

The jig needs to be 114 inches for the wings - only need 109 for the
empennage but you will need the extra length for the wings so just
built it 114 to begin with. It shows that dimension on some of the
prebuild plans but it's over in the wing diagrams. Van's confirmed
the 114 inch dimension.

Thanks Danny,
I couldn't believe the dimension wasn't in the preplans, somewhere!
Merry Christmas.
