I have just received my empennage and note reference in the manual to
DWG 3-PP in a few places. The only drawing I have is a "DWG 3". Is
this just a typo?

I HIGHLY recommend that you start with the Vertical
Stabilizer first - it's hands down the easiest
component in the kit. However, do read carefully the
directions which come before for other sections as
there may be some details in those sections which they
expect you to apply to the VS.
Also, when you put the round head rivets in on the
main spar - the general consensus seemed to be that
the round heads should go on the trailing edge side –
towards the back of the airplane. The mashed end
would then end up on the inside of the skins. This
will make it easy to squeeze the rivets on the edge of
the skins when you close things up.
When you do your first rivets with a bucking bar, take
it slow and easy and get someone to help you – one
hold the bucking bar and one hold the rivet gun. It’s
a drag when you mash things up. Avery’s bucking bar
part #620 was most useful.
Good luck

This is confusing, but all the information to construct the empennage is
there if you can sleuth it out.
On Page 6-3, they refer to DWG 3PP in fabricating the splice angles of
HS-610 and HS-614. In fact the information to accomplish this task is
on DWG 3. There is no DWG 3PP.
In another label intelligence test, it would appear Van's failed to
label drawings on Page 6-14. The format to connect figure 6-3
explanation to the corresponding drawings is to label the drawings 6-3PP
which was not done. If you look at figure 6-5 on Page 6-15, you will
see what I mean. The drawings referred to by figure 6-5 explanation are
labeled 6-5PP.
