Home -> RV-7 and RV-7A topic: RV7 Front HS Assembly Question

I am looking at the FRONT VIEW and SECTION B-B, on DWG 3 for the RV7
Horizontal Stabilizer.

I am trying to determine the correct positioning of the HS610 and
HS614 on the HS602.

Question...Is the "FRONT VIEW" on DWG 3 showing the placement of the
610 and 614 AFTER the flange of the 602 has been trimmed out?

If so, does the taper on the 610 begin at it's bend point (5 and 3/16
inches each side of the Center Line)?

Does the taper on the 610 match the angle of the 602's flange and run
parallel with the 602's flange? It appears so. But if that is true,
the taper of the 610's top edge does not appear to be tapered as much
as its bottom edge. True?

would certainly appreciate it if anyone can instruct me on
how/where to position the 610 and 614 on the 602's.

Thank You

Dave

If you look at section B-B, you will see that the outside flanges of
the -614 and the -610 are 3-1/4" apart. I used a 3" spacer on the
inside and clamped the two angles together before drilling. The 3-
1/4" dimension is centered on the -602 top to bottom.

On both of the angles, the taper begins 5-5/8" from the C/L and is
tangent to the 1/4" radius @ 7-7/8"

Hope this helps.

Ross
