RE: RV Lighting
I wish to fly on clear days and clear nights only.
In the Vans Catalogue on page 48 I have the White tail
position light – with strobe (P/#LN-A500-14) – mounted
on the bottom of my rudder.
On my wing tips I plan to order the wing tip
strobe/position lights – Red (P/#LNA650-PR-14) and
Green (P/#LNA650-PG-14).
I then plan to have the Duckworks landing lights
mounted in my wings.
Will the above take care of my somewhat basic needs
for lighting?
On the wing tips – do I need one wire coming from some
type of transformer for the strobe and then another
wire for steady power to the position light?
My QB wings do not appear to have any conduit run down
them – but do have plastic plugs where wires might
run. Is it best to install a long piece of conduit
for running wires? Or do I just feed the wiring
through the holes already there?
Thanks

Your system will work fine. The wires you will need will be a wire (or maybe
two if you have a sync wire) and a wire for your nav light. You can ground
it locally. If you haven't bought the duckworks yet, take a look at the RMD
lights before you do. More expensive, but worth every penny. Plus, since
you have the tail mounted position light, you can put your nav/strobe in the
cavity of the wing tip light.
As far as the conduit is concerned, get yourself a large unibit and a drill
bit extension and drill those babies out and put some large tygon tubing,
plastic water pipe, PVC, or something similar. It will be MUCH easier to
thread the wire in, and if you need to take out wire or put more in, it will
be much easier.

Cliff,
I'm using the same lighting scheme you are. I ran a four conductor,
16GA cable through the wing in the supplied grommets.
