Navaid makes a wing leveler autopilot - (one axis
gyro) for about $1,300. Does anyone know of an
affordable two or three axis autopilot?? One which
would control, rudder, elevators, and aerolones?
Always liked the idea of knowing I might just flip on
an autopilot if I unexpectedly got into a zero
visability situation - like in a cloud.
Ideally I'd like to just spend the money on the servos
and mount them now - then at a latter date get the
more costly control unit.

These are solid state auto-pilots and they have one for every price budget. I believe they also sell install kits that are basically just the servos.

Checkout Tru Trak Flight Systems at http://www.trutrakflightsystems.com.
These are made with for RV's. They have mounting brackets that bolt right in
the RV wing.
You can go from basic to quite elaborate.
