One more method. After drilling the hole in the rudder fairing for
the light, apply about a 1/4" of MarineTex inside the hole on the top
and bottom. For those who might not know about this stuff, it's a
two part compound that when sets up can be drilled, filed, tapped,
etc. It hardens like metal. You get it at marine supply stores like
Boaters World. After it sets up, drill and tap the holes that are
part of the light assembly.
I've done this on two airplanes and it works very well.
