For pete's sake!! Most WWII fighters had gear reduction, not to mention all
the turboprops ever built. I've a friend who just upgraded his Piper Malibu
from a Lycosaurus TIO540 350hp to a PT-6 flat-rated to 540 hp with the
mandatory gear-reduction drive. How else would you get all those ponies from
the fast turning turbine to the slow turning (2000rpm) prop blades??? Please,
no flames....
