Hello All,
I've been lurking here for quite a while now, learning from all the great
info you guys have been posting, waiting to get started on my own project.
Well, I finally ordered my RV-7 Empennage kit. It arrived 2 weeks ago and
I've been having a blast working on it ever since.
I found an error in the manual and plans and wanted to alert any of you who
are working on the HS. Manual pg. 6-1, Rear Spar Assy., par 4 says to
enlarge the 7th hole from the end of HS-609PP to #19.....should read the 8th
hole. Dwg. 3 of the full-size plans, Rear View, show HS-708 attaching to the
rear spar at the 7th hole but it's not lined up with the Top View above which
shows it connecting to the 8th hole. The 1/2 size preview plans show it
correctly (didn't notice that until after I drilled). I emailed Van's about
this but haven't heard back yet. Guess I'll just have to use blind or "Oops"
rivets in the 7th hole.
Other than that, it's been going great. Hope this helps some of you.........
