Does any one have experience with cleveland tools & also the Main
Squeeze tool that they offer. I just orderedd an RV7-A quickbuild
kit & am ready to buy tools. Any suggestions? Thanks, Stan Bahrns

I bought my tool kit from Cleaveland. They are a great company to
deal with and very helpful with any questions you may have. All my
orders have been promptly shipped. I started out with the Tatco
squeezer with a 3" yoke. IT's a very nice unit and well made. You
will see some slight flex in the 3" yoke though when setting 1/8"
rivets. Additional yokes are resonably priced. You have to drive
out three pins to change the yoke though. I've heard that you can
speed that up by going to your local hardware store and picking up
some hitch style pins.

I recently bought the Main Squeeze. Although I havn't used it much
yet, it appears to be a very well made unit. Which it ought to be
for the price. $375.00 with a no hole yoke deliverd. Thats $105
MORE than I paid for my Pnumatic squeezer. I bought it for two
reasons I guess. The main one is that the yokes are interchangable
with my pnumatic squeezer. The second is that I'm building a slow
build kit.

Avery also sells a squeezer that uses the same yokes as the pnumatic
squeezer thats nice. And less expensive than the Main squeeze.
Unless your going to have a pnuematic squeezer which you could swap
yokes with I wouldn't buy it for a quick build. Thats just my
opinion though. Unless your the type of guy who has an altar of
tools then go for it!

Plenty of experience with them. Great people and
great products. No experience with the squeezer
though. I did hear that someone got it and loved it.
Personally, I had fine succes using my tatco squeezer.

I have been very happy with the Cleveland folks and I think the "main squeeze" is worth the price. I would recommend getting it first and when you feel the need, add a pneumatic squeezer and you will already have yokes to fit. Since I bought the main squeeze I have used my pneumatic very little. It really is easier to squeeze rivets with this tool.

Congratulations. It will be a great project and will result in a great little airplane.

Just get the Avery "Vans" kit as a package. Make certain you get the Pnumatic Squeezer - it is my favorite - perfect rivets every time (well almost). Don't cut corners on your tools. You will also need a drill press, bandsaw, belt/rotary sander, and bench grinder for your scotchbrite wheel. Home Depot has Ryobi for about $100 each.

Yes, I have had good luck with cleveland. The Main
squeeze is a very nice squeezer. I bought one and
love it.

I agree Joe Hobbs about tools; I've done the same thing
except added a CH die grinder ($20.00 at Home Depot)
for dressing edges with a small scotch brite wheel.
