does anybody have a recommendation on an in-panel cd player.

I think the fewer number of portable junk with wires going every
where is where I want to be.

I would almost bet Doug R put a cd in his new toy.

You may want to look into a MP3 player (Solid State memory type) I have found that CD-s don't like flying much. They act just like a Gyro and when you bank/roll you cause them to skip and after a couple of years they don't work at all due to the abnormal wear on the spindles. If you are "Stuck on" getting a disk player at least get one with an antiskip feature like on the portables.

Me I'm putting in a MP3 Player/Radio.

Agreed. I put in a Sony CD player in my RV-6A and it
works fine, but if you like to play around a bit, it
skips really easily. Plus, I suspect it will get
dirty after a while and probably will not last as long
as the airplane does. MP3's have gotten much cheaper
now. As long as you don't mind converting your CD
collection to MP3 and putting them on memory chips, it
makes the most sense. I bought a portable MP3 player
that I plug into the intercom of my C-140 and it's
great. Sounds great and NEVER skips! (It can't, no
moving parts).

How about an XM Radio/CD/MP3 deck , you can get an XM/CD deck for
under $200.

PS Engineering, www.ps-engineering.com , makes 3 different CD player
models specifically for aviation use. One model is an add-on to an
audio panel, another model is a standalone CD player, and the third,
and newest, model includes CD player, MP3 player and AM/FM receiver.

Yes they are nice. But, if I remember correctly, they
are VERY expensive (like $500 I think) as they are
TSO'd for spam cans.

The MP3 idea has lots of merits... Lighter, more music
can be taken for the ride, less (if any) interference
to nav equipment, relatively inexpensive, these tiny
units can be mounted anywhere...etc...

I currently have an auto 10-PACK CD changer and
thinking about the MP3 for my RV9A..
