I have a question in ref to DWG 7 and the R-913. The plans
state "Locally bevel outside edge to smooth transition of R-901 skin
as it runs off the edge of the counterbalance skin." I have searched
the posts here and read the discussion on the similar elevator parts.
What confuses me is the " { " markings on the plans. I was
looking for answers on what tools, techniques to use and how much and
precisely where to bevel etc. I think you just flatten out the edge
of the 913 where the skin crosses over. Right? I think I have a
pretty good idea but need some reassurance before grabbing the vixen
file or taking the skin to the wheel!
Thanks,

I am finishing the fuse, but built the "new" rudder a couple weeks
ago.
I didn't really grasp that concept either.
I assumed that they were referring the overlapped skin onto the skin
that retains the counterbalance.
I made a few strokes with the course file and moved on.
Stay away from a power driven wheel with the sheet metal skins.

Cary,
Thanks for your response. After sleeping on it I came up with the
same conclusion. I just "took the edge off" the counter balance skin
and moved on as well. Everything fits great.

Ben,
The idea here is to do just that "smooth the transition" from one skin to
the other. You are still going to see there is a skin overlap there, but try
to break the 90 deg off of it. I just 1/4 rounded the edge about 1-2 mm
back. Does this make sense?
