Hi Bob,
There are two types of latex allergies.
1- latex skin sensitivity
2- systemic allergy to latex
The first involves direct exposure to the skin. You
will develop redness and a rash to the areas in
contact with the latex. It's usually the latex powder
in the gloves. This will go away with eliminating the
use of the irritant.
The second is when someone develops a full blown
allergy and cannot come near latex. If particles are
inhaled, they can have an allergic reaction involving
wheezing, swelling of the face and throat, and
possible death.
I'm not sure which type you have, but it sounds like
the former. If so, you can either buy latex-free
gloves (ie-without the latex powder) or apply a skin
barrier so that you will not develop this contact
dermatitis.
Let me know because I carry a product called "Clear
Shield" which will prevent this type of reaction!
