Thanks to Rick and Lori Threet and Phil Birkelbach for you info. Your sites have answered my questions..... however.... they have also pointed my first mistake. I have wrongly installed my external pitot "rivets" 1 rib aft of the baggage panel. From your pictures, I should have installed them 2ribs aft of the baggage panel (on the rib with the shoulder harness attachpoint).

My question is: How critical is the position of the external static ports and should I fix it?

I can't imagine that it would make that much difference. It would be a
pretty simple matter to just drill out those rivets, dimple the holes and
put a flush rivet there and then get two more rivets to put in the right
place. I don't think it will matter, but it would be easy to fix.

Godspeed,
