I am preparing to rivet the counter balance skin onto the counter
balance rib. The instructions state that CH4-4 blind rivets will be
used to attach the fiberglass tip to the top of the rudder.
Q1: What size should I drill the holes for a CH4-4 blind rivet?
Q2: Is there a table out there with required hole sizes for given
blind rivets?
Q3: I assume that I will use the same dimple die set as I would use
for the rest of the rudder skins, correct?
Q4: Should I wait to prepare the tip attach holes until I am ready to
install the tips? I plan to primer the inside of the skin so this
means that I would have to dimple the tip attach holes after the skin
is primered if I wait.
Thanks for your anticipated help!!

-I am a few hours ahead of you. You will need to drill out the holes
with a #30 drill. Use the appropriate dimple for this hole. BTW I am
going to use proseal on the trailing edge. Bought the small tube for
$14.00. The folks at Vans said you only need about a dimes worth for
the entire trailing edge.

Jeff,
Did you dimple these yet or will you wait until you get ready to
install the tip?
I didn't realize that you could buy the "tube" of Proseal. Did you get
it from Vans?

I would not dimple the skins. Simply get everything fit properly, drill to
30 and then use your deburring tool as a countersink for the 4-4's. They
have a thin head and don't require much countersink. This way you don't need
to countersink the glass. Much easier.

Ben,
I dimpled already. I think I got the proseal from Vans or Aircraft
Spruce. I thought about using epoxy but I have heard soo much about
proseal that I thought I might be less of a man if I did not become
aquainted with it. It is a right of passage when building the kit
right ??
