Hi fellow builders,
A while back I was able to work a group-buy deal with Control Vision
for their ExpBus product line. We got 20% savings, 56 builders took
advantage of the opportunity. I've got another one going, it is listed
on my site www.CSdiscounts.com, byt this is the deal in short form:
Jan Eggenfellner has agreed to let me organize a group-buy for five
(5) H-6 Subaru FWF engine packages for the August 2004 batch. This
engine package is a 6-cylinder, horizontally opposed, liquid cooled,
190hp powerplant. (Think of it as a more powerful, but less vibrating
O-360 equivalent.) In exchange for a $2,000 price reduction (list
price is $23,995, group-buy price is $21,995) he is requiring 100%
up-front non-cancelable payment. (Anyone is free to re-sell as a
private sale after delivery.) The offer is intended to generate more
business and is therefore available only to new customers. It is
non-cancelable because the funds will be invested in the materials.
For product research I strongly recommend visiting Jan's site
www.subaruaircraft.com, and join his Yahoo group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/subaruaircraft/
The details and description of the full purchase process can be found
on my website on the page

My interpretation is that Jan is willing to forego the additional
income to have peace of mind that a deal is a deal and orders won't be
cancelled on him mid-stream. This is smart business, it allows him to
focus fully on what's important to him: building engines, managing
suppliers, and doing development work.
And for anyone who's worried about paying up-front to Jan: I've
monitored him for 3 years, and have never heard of a single case of
any customer being short-changed of even a single dollar! I've come to
respect him as a man of integrity, and motivated by personal pride in
his work and accomplishments, not by money. He's in this for the long
haul. I have nothing but 100% trust in Jan. (I have put my money where
my mouth is: I've had my engine and prop paid for 100% since November
2003, my delivery is this May 2004.)
If anybody has any questions, let me know. You can even do it direct,
off-list if you want, through the email link on the CSdiscounts web-site.
