Hello all: Does anyone know what the (possible) elimination of
100LL, and the new avgas (91 Octane, I think) will mean for the 200
HP IO-360? Will it require retiming? New pistons? Some other form
of derating the engine? I'm still undecided, but think that I'd
like to install the 200 HP. But if the elimination of 100LL means a
derated net HP, then I'd be more inclined to go with the 180.
Thanks, Mike (inventorying QB wings and fuselage kits this weekend)
p.s. Someone mentioned today that QB wings could not use
capacitance fuel senders. I ordered capacitance senders right off
the QB order form, and saw the boxes in the inventory. I'm
confused.

You will have to return 'em and order floats instead. Basically,
capacitive senders have to be built in, and Vans doesn't do that on
QB kits (nor QB tanks).

Wicks offers an assortment of capacitive probes.

Hi Mike,
I have a 7A with and 0-360 A1A and the Hartzell BA C/S prop. So far I have been out to the Colorado Rockies. Grand Canyon, and this last weekend to Atlanta,GA from Wisconsin. I set the prop at 2400 rpm and hold as much MP as I can (up to 24 in.). I usually start dropping below 24 in above 5000 ft or so. Anyway, I reverified my cruise on this last trip of 204 mph true airspeed. That's at gross and burning about 10 gph. My climb is over 1800 fpm at 110 mph indicated at gross.
My point is buy the 0-360 A1A 180 hp and put the money saved towards a good prop like the Hartzell BA (74").
You won't be dissapointed and you won't have to be concerned about fuel changes.
Roberta
