The "parachute wars" thread continues...the best way to look at the BRS
chute is it's a second "chance" to survive, not a certainty. I had a
BRS 750 'chute for 260 flight hours in my Kolb Firestar II experimental.
During this time, I underwent a forced landing due to prop reduction
main drive gear failure, during which I did not deploy the parachute,
but sucessfully glided to an uneventful landing at a nearby airstrip. I
always had it in my mind when flying the Firestar to use the BRS only as
a "last resort"...one that won't necessarily guarantee survival!
