Hi to all
Thanks for all the riveting advice. Between Gus at Van's, you fine folks, and my building mentor Paul Densely of Saint George ( He rehabed a wrecked 172 to adsolute gorgeous status) I feel more confident in this important activity of riveting. Paul imparted much wsidom in how to buck rivets and get the gun set for the process. We did the VS skin and it turned out just beautiful.
Now to my point. Any new guys or gals having the old rivet problems GET HELP from a knowledgeable craftsmen in riveting or take one of the many classes offered.
Side note. As an old retired chemistry teachers I couldn't help but notice as my age advanced / testestrone waned / and my need to control everything in my view, the kids learned more / faster / and actually seemed to enjoy the experience. I still expected high standards, absolute commitmentment to safe lab procedures, and willingness to challenge the individual student to acheive at a higher level than they would normally accept. Dignity, reasonableness, and maturity will USUALLY always win over a bully, self rightoeus, impatient, condescending, authoritarian individual. Lest you think me a prude my last act as a teacher at retirement was to deny a student (very popular, parents were SOMEONE OF NOTE in the community) graduation.
I have enjoyed the give and take these last few days. I do believe that we are all on the same page. Build a plane with craftsmen like quality, fly safely, treat all with dignity (even when it is hard to do), and to help each other in our flying endeavors.
Thanks in advance
Frank @ SLC and SGU working on emp.
