Home -> RV-7 and RV-7A topic: Fluting Ribs (& new question)

Author: "Greg Larson" <hanzonn@...> Time: Mon Oct 11, 2004 3:05 am PDT Link

Thanks guys (& Roberta),

Yeah, now I definitely see the difference. A little work and they're
straight as an arrow and fit much better now.

Another quick question... the plans or manual doesn't call (as far as
I can tell) for a rivet on the aft flange of HS-404. Since the upper
& lower portions have been notched out to accomodate HS-710 & 714,
the only place for a rivet is the center. Is that correct - does the
aft flange just sit there without a rivet?

Thanks, Greg

Look carefully at section D-D and you will see the callout and location of the rivets. They are AN470AD4-5, all HS-404 to HS-702 to HS-405.

Its kinda hard to see.

Greg, You and i are working on the same passages of the manual, i did
go ahead and drill 2 holes on each flange of the 404 thru 702 onto
405. I went further and skinned both sides of the spars and ribs
without fluting to get the holes marked up correctly on the hs404 and
hs405 in its respective left/right postions, they fit just fine. I
will be fluting though. There's pix of this at my website
