I'm just about ready to start the empennage of my RV7 and of course
many questions come up and I did find answers to many of them, but
one
is'nt clear yet. What is the inspection process in Canada ? I will
join my local EAA and they will probably have a bunch of answers for
me... but the next meeting is in 3 weeks.
Can I go ahead and close the hs, vs, rudder etc...

Luc, have you contacted MDRA? Here is a link http://www.md-ra.com/ this is the Canadian inspection body on behalf of the FEDS. You must register with them to start the inspection process, there is no way around it! As far as closing up the emp, technically your inspector might want to look around inside, so you are taking a chance of having him/her asking you to open it up. Good luck, oh and by the way get your cheque book out!

I bought the QB wings and fuse and there was no issues with my inspector
viewing them in the state they arrived. That means closed flaps, fuel tanks
(attached) and ailerons. When he arrived for the first time I also had
finished the tail (so horizontal stab and rudder where also closed)... No
issue with him.
I got the impression (although he was very thorough) that he was first and
foremost looking for a general impression of workmanship, as he was
impressed with this, the remainder of his inspection seemed less grueling.

First step is to open a file with the MD-RA
Then you will receive information on fees, schedules and rules
The inspector may ask to to see every rivet inside and outside
As the RVs meet the 51% + part done by constructor / owner, 2 inspections minimum are required
In Canada, inspection scope are not used/ allowed by inspector, etc...

Hi Luc,
This is as clear as mud. I was told that I have to leave everything
open for inspection and when the inspector arrived he was surprised to
see everything open. I guess it really depends on the inspector but
for sure, if you leave everything open then you will not have a problem.
