Starting the empennage and a big question is the priming of the
interior. I've read a lot of articles and I'm pretty well set on
Alumiprep, Alodine and epoxy primer but today I came across 2 other
products Cortec http://www.cortecvci.com/Publications/PDS/373.pdf
and Prekote www.terravendi.com/PreKote/prekote-EA.asp
Has anybody tried these products? the non toxicity is very appealing.

I use the Pre-kote and it works pretty well. Definitely easy. Just pour it into a container and use scotch brite pads and then rinse with water and prime. They have a neat video on their website. I guess the Pre-kote system is what's being used on military jets now. The video shows them pre-koting an F-16.

I used Pre-Kote as well, but one area that gave me some concern
is that after treating and rinsing, a clean cloth constantly
showed some grey residue when I wiped the part. The Akzo stuck
very well, tho. Did you see this grey residue?
Thanks,
Mickey

I cannot say that I did. Did you use tap water or distilled water to rinse. I think the instructions say to use the distilled water but I just used the water in my house ( ran through a water softener). I have my own well also, so no chlorine or anything else that cities may add to their water. As far as the primer, I'm using the 2-part sherwin williams epoxy-primer. It sticks great to everything that waspre-koted good. Keep in mind on the ribs that they take some time to pre-kote. There was some spots along the flanges/web that I did not scrub good enough and the primer did not stick. I got some self-etching rattle cans and touched up those spots. I'll know to take more time on them next time.
