I'm getting ready to rivet the rudder together. When I had the whole
thing clecoed together I sighted down the trailing edge to see how
straight it was. No very. There is a wave of about 4 rivet spacings. My
question is: Will this wave be taken care of with the proseal and
clecoing to a piece of angle as per the instructions or am I screwwed
before I rivet. Did anyone look at their edge before riviting. I'm
going ahead. I'll let you know.

Andy-
I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just make sure that
that your angle is STRAIGhT (not all angle is) and that the table you
are using is FLAT. I would weight the rest of the rudder down too. When
mine was just clecoed together it was no where near as straigt as it
was once I prosealed it. I was pleasantly surprised how straigt mine
came out after worrying about it so much (all within probably .05")--
I'm not at all intimidated by doing any more trailing edges after
finishing the -9 empennage (which has three of them), but I do remember
how concerned I was on that first one.
Good luck,
Steve

Thanks thats a load off. I had a piece of aluminum
angle I had all drilled out and ready to use. After
your reply I checked it out. Its bowed. So I drilled
out a piece of steel angle. That one is straight.
Thanks for saving my trailing edge. I probably would
have been flying in circles. All left turns!

The other thing you can do if you have a router is cut a groove the
width and depth of your angle into the flat surface. Then you can
cleco through your skins and your angle (especially if it bows a
little) into your flat surface and your entire rudder will lay flat
on the table. Also, if you're sure your table is flat, once the
proseal cures and your ready to rivet, clamp your trailing edge along
its entire length to your flat surface and back rivet plate while you
rivet (a full-length piece of surfaced steel is best for this
method. That was my method and got a rudder that was straight as an
arrow. Good luck with yours, but don't stress too much. It should
turn out just fine.

I glued mine and clecoed it to an angle, but the for me importand thing is, that I changed the direction of the rivets in one from left, one from right, one from left, right, ... ... ...
So, that if there is any material deformation during the rivet procedure, the curve will be neutralize by the next rivet from the other side.
That worked for me very well ant the trailing edge is straight.
