I've just hit the 1000 build hour mark.
Fuselage, front windscreen & slider complete
Wings complete other than wing incidence set & no fuel lines to tank
Wing tips, nav & strobes installed
Tail complete & attached
Gear attached along with brakes setup
Interior complete
Partial panel, wires run & toggles installed.
I just hooked up the nav & cabin lights tonight. They work!
I'm ready to order the xp-IO360.
Catto 3-blade is due any day.
Question is: How many hours to complete the engine setup, baffling.
I'm figuring another 500 hours.
What do you all think?

Dan, I don't suppose this is a quickbuild is it? I just hit 1100 hours this
afternoon and I'm only up to clecoing on the fuselage skin/compoents after
preparing for riveting. Good luck,

You are probably further along than I was at 1,000 hours and I have a
little over 1,700 hours now and probably less than 100 to go before I'm
done.

Hi Bob,
This is a slow build.
When I compare other builder's time for the sub kits, I believe I
saved 150-200 hours by using a battery powered deburring tool & a
pneumatic riveter. When you think about all the ribs that need
deburring & dimpling, I could zip right through them with these 2
tools.
Did you use any one of these tools?

Dan,
Tell me you're joking. I don't think I even spent 25-30 hours
*total* deburring on the entire slow build project. That was mostly
by hand with the "speed deburr" tool or just a 6" shaft with a
deburring bit. I used a cordless screwdriver to debur some of my
wing skins, but I still prefer and am faster with the by-hand methods.
My tail + wings + fuselage took a little more than 1000 hours. I
spent another 1000 or so hours on finish kit, wiring, fwf,
fiberglass, etc. I'm pretty inefficient, but I dunno about this 150-
200 hour deburring savings! 8^)
